Ilkley BID are in the process of setting up the Ilkley Gift Card scheme which is due to be launched on 5th May 2022.
Using ARG funding to cover the implementation and running costs, this is a great way of keeping the pound in Ilkley and locking in local spend. There will be no extra cost for businesses to accept this card and it will be the same process as accepting any other card payment.
The Ilkley Gift Card will be a prepaid card managed on the Mastercard platform. Consumers will be able to buy the card pre-loaded with any value from £5 to £500 which can then be redeemed in a wide variety of participating shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and businesses in Ilkley.

1. Everyone loves local – two thirds of shoppers are now more likely to shop in their local communities than a year ago.
2. Free & easy for businesses to participate using the Mastercard platform.
3. Drives local spend – 65% overspend as well as motivating people to support local business, people will explore new places.
4. Engages local employers – 81% of companies offer non-cash awards to employees.
All businesses in Ilkley that have a card reader can be a part of the scheme free of charge and there are no additional costs or training needs for merchants. By participating in the programme, businesses can gain a new revenue stream as well as potential new customers so there are really no downsides to be involved.
